It is our aim to provide quality educational opportunities for all students in Year 10 to ensure they have the best opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills, personal qualities and valued credentials essential for success in further education, employment and as future citizens. All students are advised to select subjects in Year 10 that will prepare them for study in Years 11 & 12. Year 10 preparatory subjects are prerequisites for Year 11 & 12 study. If students are not successful in the Year 10 course, they will NOT be permitted to select the related subjects in Year 11 & 12. An English subject and one Mathematics subject is mandatory at this school. Students must also choose at least one Social Science and one Science subject as research indicates that students achieve better on the QCS test if they are exposed to a broader curriculum. The two remaining subjects should be selected according to each student’s career choices, the prerequisites for Year 11 study and prerequisites for tertiary entry. Our extensive Education & Career Planning Program will ensure that students and parents have been adequately briefed to make informed decisions regarding subject selection for Year 10, and that the subjects they select will support their course of study for Year 11 & 12 and further tertiary education. In Summary
You must select the subjects that you intend to study in Year 11 & 12 or the prerequisite subjects for Year 11 & 12 study eg. If you wish to study Chemistry in Year 11 you must choose Chemistry in Year 10. If you wish to study Graphics in Year 11 you must choose Graphics in Year 10. |
